That's Gas Safety Week 2026 wrapped, our seventh year taking part, and this year's theme, 'Take No Chances', is really the whole point of the week in five words. Most gas safety problems don't announce themselves loudly. They sit quietly until they're serious.

What we covered this week

  • How to actually spot a gas leak, not just the classic rotten-egg smell.
  • Why carbon monoxide is more dangerous than a leak you can smell, and why an alarm matters.
  • What landlords are legally required to do every 12 months, and what happens if they don't.
  • The warning signs that an appliance needs looking at, before it becomes an emergency.
  • How to actually check an engineer is Gas Safe registered, in under a minute.

If you only do one thing this week

Check when your boiler was last serviced. If you're honestly not sure, or it's been over a year, that's your answer. An annual service is the single most effective thing you can do to catch a developing problem before it becomes dangerous or expensive.

Gas Safety Week ends today, but gas safety doesn't run on a calendar. If anything in this series struck a nerve, don't wait for next September, get in touch and we'll sort it properly.
