If you smell gas in your home, treat it seriously and act straight away.
What to do immediately
- Turn off the gas supply at the meter if you can do so safely.
- Open windows and doors to ventilate the area.
- Put out any naked flames and don't smoke.
- Don't operate any electrical switches, including light switches and doorbells, as a spark could ignite the gas.
- Don't use a mobile phone inside the property; step outside first.
- Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away.
Once the emergency service has confirmed it's safe, get in touch with us to investigate the cause and carry out any repair needed. As Gas Safe registered engineers, we can diagnose and fix gas leaks, faulty appliances, or pipework issues properly and safely.
